Dauphin Way United Methodist Church is a historic congregation located in the beautiful midtown district of Mobile. Rev. Brad McClain was asked to join the staff of Dauphin Way as an associate pastor, which led to Rev. McClain's subsequent appointment in June of 2006. In the fall of 2007, the "Thank God It's Sunday" worship experience began as an effort to connect with people who otherwise could not be reached through the more traditional services offered by the church. Since that time, the T.G.I.S. outreach has expanded to two worship services on Sunday morning, reaching a very diverse group of people. In any given T.G.I.S. service, there is a multi-generational, multi-racial gathering of people who join together for upbeat music, an informal celebration of the Lord's Supper, and biblically-based messages designed to impact day to day living. Some of these are led to become members of Dauphin Way, while others comprise a growing constituency of people from different denominatinal backgrounds who consider T.G.I.S. their "second church home" but who retain their membership in Roman Catholic, Baptist, and other churches. In all that has happened, the focus remains on introducing people to Jesus Christ who are unsure about their relationship to Him, and encouraging believers to take the next step of faith God is calling them to do. |
